The wider renovation of Southbury Leisure Centre has cost Enfield Council £2.4million

Southbury Leisure Centre has unveiled its new gym and other revamped facilities after a total £2.4million investment by Enfield Council.

The extensive renovation carried out over the last few months has included essential maintenance works to the building’s roof.

Greenwich Leisure Ltd runs Southbury Leisure Centre under its brand name Better. The new gym features the latest equipment from TechnoGym, one of the UK’s top fitness suppliers, and includes treadmills, rowing machines, resistance machines and spin bikes.

There is also a designated free weight area and functional training area, as well as new flooring and air conditioning throughout.

As well as the new gym, the studios have had a makeover with new LED lighting and air conditioning units. In addition, all of the centre’s changing rooms have been updated with new shower cubicles and lockers.

Vishal Karia from Better said: “This is the biggest renovation in the Southbury Leisure Centre’s history and we are delighted with the results. We look forward to welcoming current and new customers to the fabulous new facilities.”

Council leader Ergin Erbil added: “Southbury Leisure Centre is a key asset for Enfield, offering a wide range of opportunities to get fit and healthy. It is also one of the borough’s busiest leisure centres, used by residents, schools and sports clubs all the year round. This is why it was of paramount importance for Enfield Council to invest £2.4m into Southbury Leisure Centre for refurbishment works which include new, top-of-the-range gym equipment and upgraded changing areas.

“I am excited to see these changes in place – but it doesn’t stop there. Investment in our leisure centres, activity areas and facilities will continue in coming months, to ensure we provide a wide range of activities to attract participation in sports and healthy programmes across the whole borough.”
