New council contract for Enfield charity supporting borough’s unpaid carers

Enfield Carers Centre is set to continue delivering services for unpaid, family carers in the borough for the next nine years, the charity has announced.

A new contract with Enfield Council worth £359,000 per year begins on 1st June.

Under the contract, Enfield Carers Centre will continue to provide support for adult and young carers including carer health and wellbeing advice and support; advice and information including on benefits; counselling; and training.

Enfield Carers Centre also has the contract to provide carers assessments and offers not-for-profit homecare services.

The charity provides information, advice, training and support to people caring for someone who needs their help.

Enfield Carers Centre chief executive Pam Burke said: “I’m delighted with today’s announcement that acknowledges the high-quality service provision to support unpaid carers by Enfield Carers Centre. We have a strong, long-term partnership with Enfield Council and this extension will provide stable and continuous delivery of key services for over 28,000 people providing care for their loved ones in our local community.”

The Baker Street-based charity will work in partnership with local voluntary and statutory organisations to provide specialist services to support carers looking after loved ones living with autism, dementia or mental ill health.

Phil Cook, chief executive of partner provider Resources for Autism, added: “We are delighted to be able to continue our work with Enfield Carers Centre and we look forward to providing specialist advice, training and support for families in Enfield whose loved one has autism.”
