Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 60-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Enfield Wash.

The incident happened at the junction of Hertford Road and Gilbert Street, next to The Sun & Woolpack pub, at around 10:20pm on Sunday (15th).

The victim was treated by paramedics from London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance but was declared dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries. No arrests have been made.

The Metropolitan Police Service is now appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage from the area at the time of the collision.

Detective Sergeant Fiaz Janjua said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

“We are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened and are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision.

“Any detail may assist our investigation so please come forward if you can help.”

The road traffic fatality is the second in this part of Enfield in just over a month, after a 22-year-old man was killed in Turkey Street in February.
