Because Bullsmoor Lodge residents were unable to make it to a live show, the Chickenshed cast brought a touch of sparkle directly to them

Residents and staff at Bullsmoor Lodge Care Home welcomed performers from Chickenshed for an afternoon of glitz and glam.
To mark World Theatre Day last Thursday (27th), because residents were unable to make it to the live theatre performances of Chickenshed’s latest production, the cast visited the care home to bring a touch of The Gladrags Secret Society sparkle to them.
Young adults from a Chickenshed outreach team gave a performance of music and dance, with songs from the musicals of the past, encouraging residents to join in and sing along to their favourite tunes.
The ‘Space Between Us’ programme is designed to unite people of all ages, inviting them to explore, celebrate and bridge the gaps that divide generations. Through its workshops in care homes, performers engage older people in “meaningful, interactive experiences that spark joy, encourage expression and reduce isolation”.
Sandy, an activities co-ordinator at Bullsmoor Lodge, said: “What a spectacular group of young adults! We cannot wait to welcome them back into our home.”
Care home resident Patricia added: “I really enjoyed the music and dancing with them. I even sang on the microphone to What a Wonderful World.”
“Bullsmore Lodge was very welcoming,” said Rachel Yates, creative producer of Space Between Us, “and we loved how interactive the staff and residents were.
“Keran, Eloise and Cerys from our Space Between Us team had a fantastic time connecting with residents, as we sang and danced non-stop. Our favourite moment was when Proud Mary started, and residents wanted to take centre stage on the mic!”
