The Metropolitan Police Service has confirmed that two people were killed in separate road traffic collisions in Enfield in as many weeks.

The first incident saw an 82-year-old woman struck by a van at the junction of Church Street and Sarnesfield Road in Enfield Town on Tuesday, 12th May, at around 1.40pm.

She sadly died in hospital three days afterwards.

Just over two weeks later, a driver was killed on Thursday (28th May) in Hadley Road, near Cockfosters, when his car hit a tree.

The Met has this week issued appeals for witnesses to both collisions.

Regarding the first incident in Enfield Town, a 62-year-old man was interviewed under caution on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, but more information is needed.

Detective Inspector John Millward, from the Met’s roads policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who very sadly lost her life.

“Officers are building a picture of what took place that afternoon. We are looking to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have relevant dashcam footage.

“Were you in the area at the time? You may have information of vital importance to investigators.”

Anybody with information is urged to call 101, quoting reference 3906/12MAY.

Regarding the second incident in Hadley Road, which happened at around 4.30am, Detective Constable Bruce White said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family at this difficult time.

“We are working hard to establish the full circumstances of the collision, and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.”

Anyone who saw the incident or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to call police on 101, or the witness appeal line on 020 8597 4874, quoting 1096/28MAY26.
