A school uniform, a medal and a chess piece were some of the items buried for future generations to rediscover, reports Sienna Mahoney

A school in Enfield Lock is celebrating its 75th anniversary – by burying a time capsule.
Students at Prince of Wales Primary School helped to fill the time capsule with a range of items including a school uniform, toys, a ‘Place 2 Be’ medal, and some of their own projects.
A chess piece was also placed in the time capsule as a representation of the board games the children have played.
The time capsule was buried on Friday (10th) with help from Enfield North MP Feryal Clark.
Prince of Wales Primary School headteacher Jan Bless said: “The time capsule provides a snapshot of 2026 so that future pupils can look back on the learning in our school and understand how we always embrace change.”
The school intends to open the time capsule on a date still to be decided. Possibilities for the opening include 2050 or 2100.
As part of the celebration, the school also hosted a summer fete, an afternoon tea party, and a reunion for former pupils and staff to attend.
Clark said: “It is a privilege to join the school as it marks this significant milestone.”
Bless added: “Our 75th anniversary is a wonderful opportunity to mark the achievements of our school and how it has supported the local community since 1950.”
