School's new multi-sports facility opened by Spurs coaches

Schoolchildren aged six to eleven also took part in skills sessions led by the Spurs coaches

Football coaches from Tottenham Hotspur have helped open a new sports facility at a Southgate school.

Pupils at Vita et Pax School in Priory Close this week welcomed the Spurs community coaches from Tottenham Hotspur, who ran football sessions to mark the official opening of the school’s new multi-use games area (Muga).

Schoolchildren aged six to eleven took part in skills sessions led by the Spurs coaches, working on passing, dribbling and teamwork, enjoying the new all-weather surface.

The Muga gives pupils a “safe, all-weather space” for football, netball and other sports. It will be used during PE lessons, at playtimes and for after-school clubs.

Headteacher Darren May said: “Watching our children develop and hone their skills alongside the Spurs coaches on our new Muga was a wonderful moment. We are very grateful to Tottenham Hotspur for giving their time and inspiring our pupils.

“Vita et Pax is celebrating its 90th year, and we want to mark it by investing in the future, not just looking back. The Muga is one part of our commitment to keep improving the facilities and opportunities we offer every child, from our nursery to year six.”

Vita et Pax was founded in 1936 and is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. Celebrations so far have included the burial of a time capsule, which will be opened in 2076. The fee-paying school has also recently expanded its nursery provision.
