Two charged with murder of pensioner in Ponders End

George Eric Rogers, 66, was stabbed to death in the communal area of a block of flats on Friday night

Detectives have charged a man and a woman with the murder of a pensioner in Ponders End.

Ellie Ackhurst, aged 30, and Anthony Elliott, aged 42, both of no fixed address, were charged with murder and were due to appear in custody today (Tuesday 5th) at Highbury Magistrates’ Court.

An investigation was launched after police were called at 7.21pm on Friday (1st) to reports of a man found injured in the communal area of flats in Lockhart Close, near Lincoln Road in Ponders End.

Officers responded and found a 66-year-old man with stab injuries. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed and while formal identification awaits, his identity has been confirmed as George Eric Rogers.
