Two men charged with causing woman's death in A10 horror crash

Two men have appeared in court after being charged with causing the death of a 28-year-old woman on the A10 two years ago.

Laura Sone-Demetrious was hit and killed by a BMW as she used a pedestrian crossing on the dual carriageway in Edmonton on Tuesday, 9th January 2024.

At the time of the crash mum Laura had been walking her two dogs, who were also killed.

Laura’s death led to a road safety campaign by her sister, Gina, which eventually resulted in Transport for London (TfL) agreeing to install new average speed cameras along the A10 Great Cambridge Road last year.

Two-and-a-half years on from the fatal collision, Sedor Olmez, aged 20 and from Gardens Road in Tottenham, and Roderick Mirzakhanian, aged 31 and from Sycamore Gardens in Tottenham, have both been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Additionally, Olmez has been charged with driving without insurance.

The pair appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court last Friday (7th) before being granted unconditional bail, and are now due to appear for a plea hearing at the Old Bailey in central London on Friday, 4th September.
