Susan Humphries from Rowantree Choir on the group’s summer concert and why people should get involved
The title of our summer concert very much sums up the type of music we sing at Rowantree Choir.
We will be performing ‘All Kinds of Everything’at Enfield Baptist Church on Saturday, 13th July, and are describing it as a “world tour in music through the centuries”.
Rowantree is a local Enfield choir, established 65 years ago, and still going strong! Our singers are of mixed ability, and are very friendly and welcoming. We sing in four parts – soprano, alto, tenor and bass (we will help you with that!) and there is no requirement to read music. We sing a wide range of music across all genres.
There is no audition and you don’t have to be able to read music so, if you can hold a tune, just turn up and have a sing! You will feel so much better for it, as singing can help boost the immune system, improve pain tolerance and increase your sense of wellbeing.
We also have a wonderful conductor, Jonathan Rathbone, who, besides being an amazing musician, makes every rehearsal full of fun. Why not come to a rehearsal and give it a go? You can try us for free! We rehearse at 7.30pm on Tuesdays at Bush Hill Methodist Church, 135 Wellington Road, EN1 2RS.
And please come and listen to our summer concert from 7.30pm on Saturday, 13th July, at Enfield Baptist Church, Cecil Road, Enfield EN2 6TG. Tickets are £15 or £5 for children aged under five years.
