Celebrities including pop star Emma Bunton and comic Rory Bremner were among those helping to raise cash for Chickenshed Theatre at a star-studded fundraising event.

For one day every year global financial firm TP ICAP hosts the ICAP Charity Day, one of the world’s most high-profile fundraising events, with different charities benefiting each year.

At the event in central London held on Thursday, 11th December, Chickenshed ambassadors Sir Derek Jacobi, Claire Skinner, Bruno Tonioli, plus Emma and Rory, all joined the excitement on the brokers’ floor.

Every penny of TP ICAP’s revenues and brokers’ commissions are donated to the charities involved, so the celebs hit the phones to drum up trade.

The event raised an incredible £5.7million globally, split between 87 participating charities.

Other celebrities on the day included Stormzy, Keanu Reeves, Dame Emma Thompson, Orlando Bloom, Colin Farrell and John Terry.

For Chickenshed the cash will support its ‘Ride or Die’ and ‘Gladrags’ programmes.

Nicolas Breteau, CEO of TP ICAP, said: “I am thrilled that this year’s Charity Day raised £5.7million. The money raised will make a meaningful difference to all the extraordinary charities we are so pleased to work with. Today’s fantastic total is only possible thanks to the support of our clients, colleagues, and celebrity ambassadors.”

Ride or Die is a youth-led theatre and workshop project that provides young people from underrepresented and at-risk communities a safe, creative space to explore themes such as gang involvement, grooming, family detachment, and youth exploitation, helping them reflect, express themselves, and grow.

Gladrags is an innovative intergenerational project that brings together young people and older adults through creative community events, fostering mutual learning, reducing isolation, and celebrating the energy, humour, and life experience of both generations.
