King Charles was said to be “immensely touched” that Lola and Mitzi were helping to keep their local area clean

Two environmentally-conscious Enfield girls have received a letter from Buckingham Palace praising their efforts to keep the borough clean and tidy.
Sisters Lola and Mitzi, aged eight and seven, wrote a letter King Charles inviting him to join them at their twice-monthly litter-picking session in and around Hilly Fields.
The litter-picks are organised by proud mum Danielle Shap, who said she didn’t realise her daughters had written the letter until they asked her to post it for them.
Just three weeks later, they got a reply from the palace’s head of correspondence, who explained the King was “immensely touched to learn that you care deeply about this important issue” and was “very encouraged to read of your successful efforts with the other members of Hilly Fields litter pickers”.
The King also passed on his “warmest good wishes” to the girls for their “endeavours” caring for the environment.
Danielle, who has been co-ordinating the litter-picking group for more than six years, told the Dispatch: “I didn’t even know they had written the letter. I started the litter-picking group when they [Lola and Mitzi] were two years and eight months [respectively] so they have been highly involved in caring for the environment and with recycling at home.
“When we got the letter and I realised it was from Buckingham Palace, they were ecstatic, they were over the moon that he cared and he had acknowledged them. They couldn’t wait to take it to school.”
