Latest Met Police figures from show a 12.6% drop in total recorded offences, reports Joe Ives, Local Democracy Reporter

A new Metropolitan Police report shows crime is falling in Enfield overall – but with some offences such as hate crime still rising.
The figures, published ahead of a meeting of Enfield Council’s safer neighborhoods forum today (Monday 13th), shows police recorded just over 6,400 ‘notifiable cases’ of crime in the borough in the first three months of 2026.
This represents a 12.6% decrease on the same period in 2025, when 7,360 cases were reported. These figures only reflect recorded crime and do not correlate directly with police attendance.
The data available so far on the 2025/26 financial year, which has just ended, shows a fall in recorded thefts from vehicles, down by 25% versus the two-year average, and suggests all vehicle-related offences have been generally falling in the borough.
At the same time, the three-month period also saw a 15% rise in thefts from people, as well as a 3.1% rise of antisocial behaviour. Of further concern is a rise in hate crime, which has increased by more than 12% over the past year, with 2,842 incidents reported.
The data, due to be presented to the council by Chief Inspector Rob Gibbs, also highlights crime hotspots as being centred around the east of the borough in Edmonton and Ponders End, although it also highlights Enfield Town and Southgate.
At the previous safer neighbourhoods meeting held in January, Chief Insp Gibbs said prolific offenders were being targeted, with a link found between drugs, theft and organised crime. He also reported that roughly a quarter of all crime in the borough was being committed in Edmonton Green and Upper Edmonton.
