An online gift shop run by a Cockfosters entrepreneur has been chosen as one of “100 impressive small businesses” to mark the launch of this year’s Small Business Saturday UK campaign.

Storm in a Teacup Gifts was founded in 2014 by Jenny Blyth as an online gift shop selling “unusual and fun gifts for all people at all prices” while also acting as an online community for people to connect, chat and shop.

Jenny was selected to be part of the Small Business Saturday’s prestigious ‘Small Biz 100’ line-up, which showcases inspiring, independent businesses from across the country.

Now in its ninth year in the UK, Small Business Saturday celebrates small business success and encourages consumers to shop local and support businesses in their communities. This year it is calling on the nation to share a ‘big thank you’ with small firms to recognise their vital role throughout the pandemic.

Jenny said: “I was absolutely thrilled to be chosen for Small Biz 100. I’m so excited to meet and network with other small businesses as well as using the platform to champion causes that are so important to me. This is such an amazing opportunity to not only promote my business but also be a business that stands for change.”

Jenny also spends time raising awareness of important causes and collecting funds for charity. She added: “We have previously collected toys for the cats at Battersea, raised funds to purchase much-needed fruit and treats for the staff on our local Covid ward at Barnet Hospital, and we are currently collecting donations to support Afghanistan refugees.”
