Enfield farm’s cèilidh raises £1,400 for local cancer charity

Botany Bay Farm hosted the traditional Gaelic social event with live music, dancing and a raffle

The main barn at Botany Bay was turned into an event venue

A traditional Gaelic social gathering at an Enfield farm’s barn has helped raise hundreds of pounds for a local cancer charity.

Botany Bay Farm hosted the cèilidh earlier this month, featuring live music from Irish folk band Wraggle Taggle, traditional line dancing, a raffle with prizes donated by local firms, and a hog roast.

The event was hosted by local farmers, Mick Keeble and daughter Vickie, and was a sell out. It was organised with help from the Rotary clubs of Enfield and Little Green Dragon pub, which served beer throughout the evening.

The total funds raised was £1,486.93. Lucy McGinn, from Nightingale, said it was “a great effort by all at the Botany Bay Farm team”.
