Road users can tell Enfield Council about any potholes they find in their neighbourhood

Enfield Council claims it will be able to fill almost 14,000 potholes across the borough over the next year thanks to more than £1million in new funding from the government.
Road users are being encouraged to tell the civic centre of potholes they find in their neighbourhood with the council now having enough cash to fill in 13,936 of them over 2025/26.
Labour councillors in Enfield have called it a “potholes purge”.
Rick Jewell, cabinet member for transport and waste, said: “People hate potholes – I hate potholes – and thanks to the new Labour government we have finally got the funding we need to really take them on.
“From April this year Enfield will get an additional £1,007,000 – enough to fill 13,936 potholes. And that’s exactly what we are going to do.
“So, if you see a pothole let us know.”
The total £1.6billion in road maintenance funding for all local councils in England was announced by the government shortly before Christmas. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said the investment would “reverse a decade of decline on our country’s roads”.
When the previous Conservative government axed the northern leg of HS2 in 2023 it also channelled extra cash to local councils specifically to spend on road maintenance. However, for Enfield this only amounted to £620,000 over two years.
Cllr Jewell added: “We all know that this country has endured 14 years of failure under the Conservatives, but
that’s over now and the work of change has begun.
‘We won’t turn Britain around overnight – but we will get there and fixing the scourge of potholes on our roads is a big step in the right direction.”
