Volunteers from Enfield Black Heritage Hub, Royal Free Charity and Macmillan Cancer Support joined Cllr Greer for a special event celebrating their achievements

The work of three Enfield charities has been celebrated at a special gala evening hosted by the mayor.
Mayor of Enfield Margaret Greer brought together residents, community leaders and supporters for the Mayor’s Charity Gala on Friday (13th) to highlight the “extraordinary work” of her three chosen charities.
The event held at Meridian Grand in Edmonton highlighted the work of Enfield Black Heritage Hub, Royal Free Charity’s North Middlesex Red Cell Service Fund, and the Enfield branch of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The evening celebrated the “compassion, dedication and vision” that drive all three charities. Funds raised from the evening, including from a silent auction, will add to the money already raised since Cllr Greer began her year-long mayoral term last May.
Cllr Greer said: “The Mayor’s Charity Gala was a wonderful celebration of the generosity, compassion and community spirit that defines Enfield.
“It was inspiring to see so many people come together to recognise the incredible work of our chosen charities and to support their mission to improve lives and strengthen the community. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together so far this year.”
Dionne John, chair of Enfield Black Heritage Hub, said: “The funds raised through the Mayor’s Charity Gala will make a real difference to our work in Enfield — helping us support health and wellbeing, nurture creativity through the arts, and open pathways into education, employment and access to legal support.
“Every contribution helps us expand our programmes and uplift lives across the community. We will also be sharing the impact of the evening online on our website and using #GalaConnect to showcase our work and connect with supporters.”

The gala highlighted the vital work of Royal Free Charity, an NHS charity supporting Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, which manages both Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield and North Middlesex University Hospital in Edmonton.
The charity supports families within the adult and paediatric red cell service at North Mid, who are living with rare blood conditions such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia. Funds raised help provide specialist staff training, support service development, and fund vital equipment to improve patient care and quality of life.
Also highlighted at the event was Macmillan Cancer Support, whose work in Enfield is led by volunteer Hayes Rees. He said: “It’s a great honour to be one of the mayor’s charities. It has been a magical year full of love, positive vibes and community spirit. We really appreciate the mayor’s support and the generosity of Enfield residents.”
Frances Bentley, one of the silent auction sponsors with a six-month ‘Life Edit’ programme and member of the mayor’s planning team of volunteers, said: “It was great to be part of the team involved in the mayor’s gala and to connect with the wonderful people in the room.”
