A former JD Wetherspoon pub in Palmers Green is set to reopen next month after coming under new ownership.

The Alfred Herring in Green Lanes closed its doors back in May after initially being put up for sale by Wetherspoon two years ago as part of a wave of disposals across the country by the pub chain.

It is now set to reopen on Saturday, 7th December. The new owners are said to be Kov Ltd.

In a statement on the reopening, a marketing person for the family-run business said: “Once the beating heart of the local community, this must-visit North London destination was the ‘go-to’ for many locals and wider London residents alike. Now under new management and no longer a franchise of Wetherspoons, the new owners are excited to share all that they’ve been working on and are delighted to be welcoming punters once again from early December.

“With a variety of beers and ales on draught, a traditional British pub menu, a host of fantastic regular events, live sports and a welcoming atmosphere, The Alfred Herring is set to make its mark on the London pub scene once again. Expect fantastic drinks offers, live music, DJs every Friday evening, weekly menu specials, sports coverage and so much more.”

Update (5th December):

The grand opening has now been postponed until Saturday, 15th December.
