Detectives investigating the fatal shooting at an Enfield Wash pub last week have named a suspect they “urgently need to trace”.

The Metropolitan Police want to speak to 35-year-old Abreham Woldegiworgis in connection with the incident. He is an Ethiopian national with links to the Enfield, Haringey and Brixton.

Anyone who sees Woldegiworgis is urged to not approach him but instead contact police immediately.

Officers believe Woldegiworgis was the person with bright red hair – almost certainly a wig – captured on CCTV last week.

Erdem Mustafa was shot dead at The Sun & Woolpack Pub in Hertford Road at around 9.30pm on Monday, 19th October.

A 23-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Monday 26th) on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. He remains in police custody.

Investigators continue to urge anyone with information about the incident, which is believed to have been a targeted assassination, to contact police.

Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: “We remain committed to securing justice for Erdem as our thoughts remain with his loved ones at this unimaginably hard time.

“While I am pleased my team have made an arrest, our work continues at pace to investigate the full circumstances around Erdem’s murder. We are now releasing the details and images of a man we urgently need to speak to in connection with the incident.

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries to trace him but are also asking for the public’s help. If you recognise him or have any information on his whereabouts please come forward.

“We are still appealing for anyone with wider information about the shooting, including any CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage, to also contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting CAD 7050/19OCT26, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
