Second stage of Enfield Local Plan hearings to start in June

Fourteen more days of public hearings at Enfield Civic Centre will be spread across June, July and August

The government’s Planning Inspectorate has announced the public hearing dates for the second stage of its Enfield Local Plan examination.

Following six days of hearings which took place in January, the next stage will start on Tuesday, 17th June and comprise 14 scheduled days with potential for additional ‘overspill’ sessions on other days if needed.

The hearing dates at Enfield Civic Centre will be spread over five separate weeks ending in mid-August.

While the first stage of hearings addressed broad issues with the council’s Local Plan document, such as its impact on the Green Belt and housing supply, the second stage will go into depth on particular site allocations such as those for Vicarage Farm (dubbed ‘Chase Park’ by the council) and Crews Hill, which between them account for around 9,000 new homes earmarked by the plan, as well as smaller allocations.

The public will again be welcome to attend the hearings, which are being overseen by the government’s appointed inspector, Steven Lee.

The full schedule for the upcoming hearings can be viewed here.

The Enfield Local Plan, which allocates parts of the borough for housing, employment and burial use up to the year 2041, cannot become official policy until being examined and then approved by the Planning Inspectorate.
