More than 200 people dressed up in their finest 80s-inspired outfits and walked through central London to try and give a local Palmers Green man more time with his family.

Steve Ackroyd, 46, was diagnosed with a stage four brain tumour in August 2022. Although University College Hospital has been fantastic, the only treatment that is making a difference is an immunotherapy programme in Germany.

The sponsored walk has helped raise thousands more for his ongoing treatment. It was themed around Netflix’s Sex Education teen comedy show, where Steve previously worked as editor.

Steve’s wife Francesca explains: “This treatment has allowed Steve to do things he thought might not be possible – like seeing our twelve-year-old daughter Autumn start secondary school this year.

“We are so grateful to everyone who has donated so far, but we know we need to keep fundraising to give Steve as much time with us as possible.”

The crowdfunder for Steve has raised more than £160,000 so far:
