Event on Friday 17th November will feature a variety of family-friendly entertainment, writes Louis Altmann
Edmonton Green Shopping Centre is hosting a Christmas lights switch-on event next Friday (17th) with a range of family-friendly entertainment being promised.
From 3.30pm until 6.30pm, the centre’s north square will “transform into a wintry wonderland” with a variety of professional acts and local performers to entertain the crowds.
This year’s special guest will be the British-Nigerian singer-songwriter, Coffee, known for his appearances on The Voice UK and ITV’s Starstruck. The soul artist will be delivering renditions of well-known Christmas tunes.
Alongside the performers, visitors will be greeted by popular animation characters and “stunning stilt angels” with wings made from shining LED lights. There will also be family-friendly games, mince pies, and hot chocolate.
Guests will have the chance to win a £20 gift voucher for a store of their choice within the centre if they take a photo inside a festive picture frame, share it on social media, and tag Edmonton Green with #EGChristmas.
The light switch-on is the first of many events at the centre this festive season. Santa and his head elf will be gracing the south mall in their sleigh from 11am to 3pm every Saturday in December. Kids will be able to take photos with them and each one will also receive a free gift to take home.
Edmonton Green will also be reopening its ‘North Pole Postal Service’, in which children can post a letter to Santa before 17th December to receive a personalised reply from Saint Nick delivered to their door.
Joe Katona, centre manager at Edmonton Green, said: “We can’t wait to bring the community together this Christmas with our series of free, family-focused events and activities. The centre will be alive with magical entertainment and a feel-good atmosphere, making Edmonton Green the perfect place to be this festive season.
“We look forward to welcoming people of all ages to share in the experience and create brilliant, lasting memories.”
