Nilcan and Refik “lost everything” in the blaze last week but more than £5,000 has already been raised to support them

Friends and neighbours of a family made homeless following a house fire in Palmers Green last week have raised more than £5,000 to support them.
Nilcan and Refik’s home in Ensign Drive went up in flames last Tuesday (23rd). Nilcan was at home but managed to escape unharmed, while Refik was at work and their two children were at school.
The cause of the fire remains unknown but it is thought to have started in an outbuilding before spreading to the house.
In response, family friend Hilal Guneri launched a crowdfunder to support them. She said they did not have insurance and are in desperate need of support.
Speaking to the Dispatch, Hilal said: “They have lost everything. They have nowhere to sleep. Our community is really strong and I am happy with it [the response].
“People are being very generous and it makes us so happy to see people donating.”
