Families are invited to celebrate the arrival of spring at Forty Hall Farm as its popular Lambing Weekend returns at the end of March.

On Saturday and Sunday, 28th-29th March, visitors can enjoy a rare opportunity to experience lambing season on a working farm and meet its newest arrivals.

Visitors will be able to see newborn lambs just days old, watch orphan lambs being bottle-fed, and meet other farm animals including piglets and calves of the farm’s rare-breed red poll cattle.

Alongside the animals, the weekend will feature a wide range of family-friendly activities and entertainment. Highlights include birds of prey displays from First Class Falconry, Morris dancing from Etcetera Morris Dancers, vegetable-inspired theatre from Madam Zucchini, plus rural workshops including rope-making with Heritage Crafts and willow fence making with the staff and students of Capel Manor College.

For the little ones, there’ll be vintage fairground rides, a bouncy castle and toast marshmallows around a fire pit.

For those interested in farming and nature, visitors can learn the story of Forty Hall’s beaver enclosure and take part in seed-sowing activities with the market gardening team. On the Sunday there will also be an opportunity to meet the farm’s beekeeper and learn how bees make honey.

As usual, Forty Hall Farmers’ Market will host an array of street food traders and local producers, offering everything from barbecue favourites and Neapolitan pizza to Malaysian street food, artisan baked goods and fresh waffles.

Visitors can also enjoy drinks from local producers including New River Brewery and the farm’s own award-winning Forty Hall Vineyard.

Lambing Weekend is one of the most popular seasonal events at Forty Hall Farm and advance booking is recommended, with early bird discounts.

Lambing Weekend runs from 10am-4pm on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March at Forty Hall Farm (EN2 9HA). For tickets and more information:
