Bloqs hosting Thursday night event in aid of areas affected by last month’s devastating earthquakes

A charity auction is being held in Edmonton tomorrow (Thursday) to raise cash for those people impacted by the major earthquakes in Turkey and Syria last month.
Manufacturing hub Bloqs, in Anthony Way, has secured a range of “great items” from local businesses and supportive organisations to be auctioned off, with 100% of the proceeds raised from the auction being donated to the Disaster Emergency Committee’s Turkey and Syria relief appeal.
The event is taking place at Bloqs from 6pm until 10pm on Thursday (30th).
Freya van Lessen from Bloqs says: “The idea is that the items being auctioned can be secured for a bargain price much lower than retail value, so it’s a win/win for bargain hunters and charity fundraising alike.”
Items going under the hammer at the event include festival tickets, Bloqs training courses, gift vouchers and aged rum. The Bloqs kitchen will also be putting on a spread of Turkish and Syrian mezza dishes with both alcoholic and soft drinks available.
The earthquakes in southern and central Turkey in February have so far claimed more than 55,000 lives and left many more homeless.
As well as the auction, Bloqs is running an ongoing earthquake fundraising appeal here.
