The 17-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car while riding his e-bike in Bullsmoor has been named.

Ishmael Sankoh was killed in Elsinge Road shortly before 11pm on Sunday, 4th October. He was hit by a car driven by a 60-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink.

In a tribute to Ishmael issued this week, his family said: “It’s hard to find the words to express the pain of losing you, Ishmael. You were more than a son, a brother, a nephew, a cousin and a friend; you were a precious part of our family, and your presence brought something special into all our lives.

“God called you too soon. You were smart, you were kind, and you made your family so proud in everything you did.

“You loved football, you loved computers, you loved life.

“Although our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the memories, the laughter, the love and the moments we were blessed to share with you. We wish we had more time, more conversations and more laughter.

“Rest peacefully, our beloved Ishmael. You were loved beyond words and will never, ever be forgotten. We will carry your name, your smile and your memory with us always. Until we meet again, may your soul rest in eternal peace.”

The 60-year-old driver whose car collided with Ishmael has been bailed pending further police enquiries.

Detective Inspector Simon Ager, from the Metropolitan Police Service, said: “Our thoughts remain with Ishmael’s family and loved ones following his tragic death.

“The loss of someone so young in these circumstances is devastating, and we recognise the profound impact this will have on all those who knew and cared for him.

“Specialist officers continue to support Ishmael’s family, and we ask that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with this heartbreaking loss.

“Our investigation remains ongoing and we are working to establish the full circumstances of the collision. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, or who has dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage from the area at around the time of the incident.”

Anyone with information that may assist police is asked to call 101 quoting CD 7294/4OCT.
