A free children’s storytelling event is taking place on Valentine’s Day at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre.

The Eddie-Bear Story Time Experience on Wednesday 14th February will offer story readings and an “exciting trail” around the centre to claim an exclusive gift.

Located in the Jubilee Garden, outside Costa Coffee, the storytelling event is being held at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm. Children are invited to bring along their favourite teddy bear to enjoy the experience.

“We know that being read to is a key part of most people’s lives,” says Joe Katona, manager at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre. “We hope that by bringing our edMINItons mascot, Eddie the Elephant, to our Valentine’s Day story times, we can provide a unique experience to enjoy listening to some wholesome stories.

“At Edmonton Green, we want to give back to our local community and make this Valentine’s Day a free, fun day out for the whole family.”

This story is published by Enfield Dispatch, Enfield's free monthly newspaper and free news website. We are a not-for-profit publication, published by a small social enterprise. We have no rich backers and rely on the support of our readers. Donate or become a supporter.

The Valentine’s Day event continues with a teddy bear trail around Edmonton Green, where Eddie’s lost teddy bear friends are “playfully hidden in store windows”.

Throughout the day, from 10am to 3pm, event staff, alongside Eddie the Elephant, will host a trail around the centre to find ten of Eddie’s lost bears. The first 200 participants who return a correct, completed trail sheet will receive their own edMINItons teddy bear.

“We recognise how to some people a teddy bear can be their love, and we wanted to provide something unique and different this Valentine’s Day,” says Katona.

“Exploring our centre, seeing everything we have to offer while on an exciting adventure to claim a collectable bear is something we hope the community will enjoy.”

The edMINIton’s club is Edmonton Green’s “big club for little shoppers” and provides free entertainment and fun for the local community in Enfield. Gifts and prizes are available for those sign up.
