An Enfield shopping centre will be hosting a circus-themed event this month featuring activities for children and a chance to meet ‘Albert the Giant Elephant’.
During the summer half-term on on Wednesday, 27th May, families can gather at Palace Gardens Shopping Centre in Enfield Town to enjoy a circus show outside Pearson’s department store.
The free event will run from 11am to 3pm and is aimed at helping children learn new skills while having fun during the school holidays.
Visitors can enjoy a mix of traditional circus entertainment and creative activities, including a poster trail to complete and win a treat, plus an arts and crafts workshops.
There will also be three performances from Steve Kaos, an international circus entertainer who has performed across the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He will appear at 11am, 12:30pm and 1pm.
In addition, children can learn circus skills from Ringmaster Sam and have the chance to meet a pair of seaside circus stock characters, the Pierrots, known for their traditional white face paint, colourful costumes and comic performances.
The highlight of the event, Albert the Elephant, will appear three times alongside his ‘trainer’. The costume act pays tribute to the famous elephant from the 1880s Barnum & London Circus, who became well known after the animal killed his keeper, James Sweeney, in 1885.
Palace Gardens Shopping Centre regularly hosts seasonal events throughout the year, particularly during school holidays and festive periods, attracting families from across the borough.
