RuPaul’s Drag Race stars and former X Factor winner set to feature at Enfield’s first major pride festival

The annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community known as ‘pride’ is coming to Enfield this month, with a family-friendly festival of diversity, inclusion and equality.
Believed to be the first festival of its kind for the borough, Enfield Town’s Library Green will host a two-day pride event that will feature some well-known names to entertain and delight the crowds, including Sum Ting Wong, Vanity Milan and Cheryl Hole of RuPaul’s Drag Race, X Factor winner Joe McElderry and tribute acts to Cher and Lady Gaga.
The festival, organised by the Enfield Council team behind the Dugdale Arts Centre, takes place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June and is free to attend.
Chinelo Anyanwu, Enfield Council’s new cabinet member for public spaces, local economy and culture, said: “We are very proud to support this event, which unites and celebrates everyone across Enfield. We are excited to welcome local people in solidarity, to enjoy two days of love and friendship and to unite with song, dance and I am sure lots of laughter.”
Pride Month is celebrated around the world throughout the month of June and is about acceptance and equity. It highlights the work of LGBTQ+ people and their history and raises awareness of issues that impact them. Further information about the Enfield LGBT network, including important resources, can be found on the council’s website.
As part of Pride Month, Enfield’s own queen Sissy Lea will also be performing at the Culture Palace in Palace Gardens Shopping Centre on 18th June. The evening of cabaret is free but booking is required.
