An Enfield teenager is set to compete for Team GB’s synchronized ice skating squad at this week’s world championships.

Ruby Tucker, aged 18, together with her team Icicles Senior Synchronized, will represent Great Britain at the World Synchronized Skating Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, starting this Friday (5th).

After competing across the UK and overseas, being selected to represent Team GB is a great success for the Icicles, who became British champions in January.

Ruby started her synchronized skating journey in East London at Lee Valley Ice Centre and skated her way up, winning multiple British championships along the way.

Last year in June, she made a decision to focus on synchronized skating and joined the Nottingham Synchronized Skating Academy (NSSA), where she now trains with the Icicles senior and junior teams.

Tracey Wester, chair of Lee Valley London Skating Club, said: “We’re extremely proud of Ruby, she has worked incredibly hard to reach the high standard of skating required to maintain a position in a top level team.

“We send Ruby and Team Icicles our very best wishes for the forthcoming world championships.”
