A wild tale about losing and finding yourself

Edith is an urban, Jewish Canadian artist. Edith finds herself stuck in a Kent marsh, with a young family to raise, and declining parents back home – but things out on the marsh aren’t what they seem.

Part autobiography, part myth, Wild Country digs into what happens to women when they become culturally and geographically dislocated for the ‘greater purpose’ of mothering. Tender and reckless, it’s about losing yourself and finding yourself – with dirt, dog hair, and rural politics thrown in.

Created and performed by Edith Tankus, a performer with Kneehigh Theatre, co-written by award-winning Annie Siddons (How Not to Live in Suburbia) and directed by Laura Keefe (Wise Children), Wild Country “is an absurd and intimate tale of motherhood, exile, and transformation”.

Edith is an award-winning director, performer, writer and clown. Born in Canada, based in Kent, she has toured and performed with Kneehigh, Told by an Idiot, and Shakespeare’s Globe. She has directed, co-written and performed in numerous plays including The Archivists at Battersea Arts Centre and won the IPAY award for ‘best production’ for Susanna Hamnett’s Nearly Lear.

Wild Country is being performed at Dugdale Arts Centre in London Road, Enfield Town, on Saturday, 22nd July 22nd, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12, concessions £10.To buy tickets:
