'Sea of entertainment' at Palace Gardens this week

The free family-friendly event promises plenty of activities for children

Families are invited to dive into a “sea of entertainment” at Palace Gardens Shopping Centre this week.

The free ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ event on Wednesday (5th) promises a packed programme of colourful characters, interactive performances and creative activities, making it the “perfect summer holiday day out” for children of all ages.

Between 11am and 3pm families are encouraged to head to Pearsons Square to enjoy three “magical performances” from Bubblina, whose wonderful bubble show is guaranteed to entertain children throughout the day.

Visitors can also meet the enchanting Mermaid Tales, featuring a stunning stilt-walking mermaid alongside a ground-based mermaid gliding through the centre on beautiful seahorses.

Dressed in beautiful pastel costumes and accompanied by a magical underwater soundtrack, the performers will create an “unforgettable under-the-sea experience”.

Young visitors will even have the chance to feed the friendly seahorses.

Adding to the ocean adventure are giant stilt-walking lobsters, towering above the crowds in striking bright red costumes, and the charming vintage deep-sea divers, Aquanauts Adrift, who will be bobbing through the shopping centre, meeting families, posing for photos and bringing plenty of smiles along the way.

Children can also get hands on in the free craft workshop outside Costa. They can make colourful fish and other sea creatures to take home as a special reminder of their day.
