Rudolph Walker CBE will be introducing his new memoir and talking about more about his incredible life
A star of Eastenders and Caribbean “cultural icon” is giving a talk introducing his memoir in Enfield this weekend.
Rudolph Walker CBE, who has played Patrick Trueman on the BBC soap opera since 2001, will present his book Walking with Dignity at Dugdale Arts Centre on Saturday, 23rd November, from 6pm-9pm.
‘An Evening with Rudolph Walker’ is being presented by Black Heritage Hub and AFIWI Book Club and will offer fans and community members a unique opportunity to hear from the celebrated actor as he shares stories from his trailblazing career and inspiring life journey.
The evening will also feature a live reading, Q&A session, and an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of the Rudolph’s book.
Originally from Trinidad, Rudolph moved to the UK at age 20 to pursue his passion for acting. In Walking with Dignity, he reflects on his journey from the Caribbean to becoming a revered figure in British theatre, film, and television. Known for his iconic roles
in Eastenders, The Thin Blue Line and more, Walker’s memoir reveals the challenges, triumphs, and wisdom that have shaped his extraordinary life.
Dionne John, chair of Black Heritage Hub, said: “Rudolph Walker’s tremendous contribution on and off the screen has impacted generations and has paved the way for greater inclusion in the arts.”
Joy Donaldson, founder of AFIWI Book Club, said: “As many of our members are of Caribbean heritage, Rudolph Walker took us on a journey exploring identify, culture, racism and resilience, this provoked us to reflect on our personal growth and that of our community.”
Tamzin Adeshiyan-John, one of the event’s young organisers alongside Safina Johnson, added: “To us, Walking with Dignity is not only an inspiring career story, but also an empowering testament to the transformative power of storytelling.”
Walking with Dignity can be purchased from Waterstones in Enfield Town.
