I have lived in Edmonton Green for 25 years and am proud to be one of the councillors representing the ward.

As one of the newer councillors in the borough of Enfield, I am honoured to represent my neighbours and fellow residents and be part of the positive change.

My family and I call Edmonton home and have raised our 23-year-old son in Edmonton Green, so I am aware of the barriers and limited life opportunities residents face here, including our young people.

With my ward colleagues Ergin Erbil and Abdul Abdullahi, we have been working hard to make positive change. As a team, we support residents with all manner of casework issues. We are making sure our neighbours and residents in Edmonton Green can speak to us in person and can access us on the phone and emails. We have a dedicated councillor advice session every Saturday morning at Edmonton Green Library.

We also host regular community meetings which are open to everyone. We have been working with council officers to tackle rubbish on our streets and continue to spend more time and effort to achieve safer and cleaner streets in Edmonton Green.

Community safety is a top priority for me. With Enfield Labour, every neighbourhood in the borough will continue to have named, contactable police teams dealing with local issues. We are seeing some great results through ‘Operation Pisces’ in partnership with the police, community groups and volunteers, and continue tackle crime issues in Edmonton Green.

The council introduced free bulky waste collections and a dedicated street sweeper for our neighbourhood. We will continue to take action against people dumping rubbish on our streets.

I am overjoyed to report that Edmonton Leisure Centre is on track to reopen, better than ever, by the end of May. I’m also proud that we continue to improve Edmonton Green Library and working alongside [owners] Crosstree to improve Edmonton Green Shopping Centre.

We know the issues our community in Edmonton face every day, including community safety, homelessness, antisocial behaviour, litter on our streets and poor NHS services.

Unlike the mismanagement of the previous government, our new Labour government recognises the core issues we face every day and are providing the necessary financial support. In working collaboratively, we are determined to create cleaner and safer streets in Edmonton Green and continue to work with key stakeholders in achieving a cleaner, greener, and safer borough.
