Drivers are warned to expect delays during at least eight weeks of works to a northern section of the dual carriageway

Major roadworks will be taking place on part of the A10 Great Cambridge Road this summer.
Motorists using the dual carriageway through northern Enfield, between Southbury Road and Hoe Lane, are being warned to expect delays starting on Monday, 20th July and continuing until “late September”.
The works are taking place around the area of Cambridge Gardens, just to the south of Carterhatch Lane, where the pedestrian crossing is being replaced and other road surfacing works are needed.
In a letter to local residents, Julie Lewington, head of programme delivery at Transport for London, explained: “Construction is scheduled to take place between 20 July and late-September 2026; these works have been planned during the summer holiday period to help minimise disruption where possible.”
She continued: “The works will be delivered in phases on weekdays throughout July and September 2026, with a combination of day works (8am–5pm) and night works (10pm–5am). Temporary traffic signals will be in operation throughout the programme to safely manage traffic on the A10.
“While most works will be carried out under lane restrictions, there are a small number of activities that will require more noticeable changes to access.”
During one overnight period in September, between Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th, the northbound carriageway of the A10 will be completely closed for resurfacing works. Signed diversion routes will be in place.
The pedestrian crossing upgrade is being delivered in conjunction with Enfield Council, which has recently completed work on a new walking and cycling route linking Tenniswood Road and the New River to Brick Lane in Enfield Highway.
