A free community screening of a new climate change film will be shown at Dugdale Arts Centre in Enfield Town next month.

People’s Emergency Briefing will be shown on Saturday, 13th June from 2pm, followed by a structured community discussion hosted by Enfield Climate Action Forum (EnCaf).

Tickets are free, but advance registration is encouraged.

The new film brings together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and insights on issues, including extreme weather and food security.

EnCaf is among a number of local groups campaigning to protect Enfield’s Green Belt from development, linking the plans for a ‘new town’ of 21,000 homes with nature and biodiversity loss.

Last November, more than 1,200 MPs, peers, leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and leading climate and nature experts gathered for the ‘National Emergency Briefing’ to present a clear picture of the challenges ahead.

This event has been adapted into a 50-minute public film, People’s Emergency Briefing. The briefing, introduced by TV presenter Chris Packham, sets out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for food security, public health, infrastructure, the economy and national security, alongside evidence-based actions that could reduce those risks.

The discussion after the film showing will focus on the issues raised, what they may mean, and how residents can support politicians to call for stronger action.
