Conway Lawn Tennis Club is hosting an all-day event this weekend offering live music, barbecue, charity raffle and children’s activities alongside its championship finals

A tennis club is hosting a special community festival this Saturday (19th) to mark its centenary.
Conway Lawn Tennis Club, based at Conway Rec on the border of Palmers Green and Southgate, was launched in 1925 and is celebrating its 100th anniversary throughout the summer.
The event on Saturday begins at 10am with the club championship finals, showcasing the very best of local talent, including a historic women’s final between 12-year-old Iman and 14-year-old Milada — the youngest finalists in club history.
From 1.30pm, the celebrations open to all with mouth-watering barbecue food, bouncy castle and free games and multi-sport activities for all ages. Festival-goers can enjoy a unique mix of live music starting at 3pm, including Gilbert and Sullivan favourites, Disney classics sung by Eleanor Grant (a featured vocalist in numerous Disney productions), and a jazz set from the ever-popular Chase Side Jazz Ensemble.
There’s also frying pan tennis, a fastest serve competition, and a raffle with “spectacular prizes” including meals at Nissi and Aksular, hair and beauty vouchers, a Wimbledon tour and cocktail party, plus gifts from local favourites Holtwhites and Gail’s. Money raised will support Cooking Champions, Conway Rec Friends, and Conway’s outreach programme for special needs students.
Club chair Graham Sievers said: “This is a festival for everyone — tennis lovers, foodies, families and music fans. It’s our way of saying thank you to the Enfield community that’s supported us for a century.”
