The event at the Dugdale in September will include a panel of community leaders, experts and politicians

The London Society is partnering with Enfield Dispatch to host an event discussing the borough’s housing crisis – and whether the Green Belt has a role to play in solving it.
Over the past few years the Dispatch has reported extensively on the huge scale of homelessness locally as well as the difficulty facing Enfield Council in building the new homes needed to solve it.
With the Enfield Local Plan and its proposals for thousands of Green Belt homes currently being examined by a government-appointed inspector, the borough is potentially facing a crossroads moment.
On Monday, 15th September, Enfield residents are invited to join a “thoughtful and timely discussion on housing, growth, and the future of outer London” at Dugdale Arts Centre from 6pm-8pm.
A panel of speakers including housing experts, campaigners, community leaders and politicians will discuss how to meet urgent housing needs while respecting the character of existing neighbourhoods, as well as what role the Green Belt should play and how can local people can be part of shaping change, rather than feeling left behind.
Hosted by Dave Hill, founder of website On London, with support from Dispatch editor James Cracknell, the panel speakers include Jack Brown from King’s College London, Carol Fisk from Enfield Road Watch, council leader Ergin Erbil and John Murphy from London Yimby campaign group.
Tickets cost £25 for the general public but discounts are available for members of The London Society.
