The script for Conscious Square was developed with help from neurodivergent creatives

A new virtual reality (VR) film created by two Enfield artists will be screened at Palmers Green’s new public square this weekend.
Arts group Dyspla, comprising Kazimir Bielecki and Lennie Varvarides from Enfield Wash, were commissioned by Arbeit Studios in Palmers Green to create a new piece of digital art that celebrates and “digitises” Devonshire Square, a new public space created at Devonshire Road’s junction with Green Lanes.
Devonshire Square was created by Enfield Council but was shaped by collaboration and consultation with residents, local schools and community groups over several years. A mix of events including markets and live performances are now taking place.
Dyspla’s film, Conscious Square – directed by Kazimir and based on a story written by Lennie – is an “experimental neuro-futurist film” with Devonshire Square as the focal reference and location setting for a series of performative talking heads, in a ‘mockumentary’ style. They say the film highlights, as well as questions, why common people feel so disconnected from each other.
The script was developed with neurodivergent creatives as part of Dyspla’s monthly script development workshop, with themes of space, connection and community explored further through improvisation and repetition.
Lennie explained: “Dyspla’s work tends to overlap in theme and aesthetic as the core concept is always paramount — how does the neurodivergence lens shape our the world around us?”
The twelve-minute VR film is being shown at Devonshire Square on Saturday (16th) from 11am-4pm and is free to attend, with no booking required.
