Visitors will have the unique opportunity to observe honeybees in action through an observation hive

Enfield Beekeepers Association is set to host its annual Honey Show at Capel Manor Gardens over the first weekend of October.
Running from 10am-5pm on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th, this family-friendly event offers a “delightful blend of education, entertainment, and the sweet allure of local honey”.
Visitors will have the unique opportunity to observe honeybees in action through an observation hive, providing an up-close look at the inner workings of a bee colony.
Knowledgeable exhibitors and local beekeepers will be on hand to answer questions and share insights into the fascinating world of bees and the craft of beekeeping.
A highlight of the weekend will be a series of engaging educational talks held on both days. Topics will include sustainable beekeeping practices, the role of pollinators in food production, and tips for starting your own hive. These talks aim to deepen public understanding of the challenges facing bees and the critical importance of their
conservation.
Capel Manor Gardens in Bullsmoor provides a picturesque setting for the event. One special treat for attendees will be a guided garden tour led by former school principal and passionate horticulturist, Mr Downbiggings, whose storytelling and plant knowledge promise to enrich the experience.
On Saturday morning, visitors can also witness the process of honey judging, where a certified honey judge will be carefully assessing over 100 entries submitted by local beekeepers. From clarity and taste to presentation, each entry will be scrutinised in a fascinating display of expertise. A small award ceremony will follow in the early afternoon to honour the top entrants and celebrate the dedication of the local beekeeping community.
The show also features a bustling market stall where attendees can purchase locally produced honey and beeswax products. For younger guests, interactive craft activities such as candle rolling and bee badge making offer fun ways to learn about pollinators and sustainability.
Admission to the Honey Show is free; however, entry to Capel Manor Gardens requires a ticket which can be purchased at the door. Members of Capel Manor Gardens enjoy free entry as part of their membership benefits. Free on-site parking is available.
Gabriele Gori from Enfield Beekeepers Association said: “Don’t miss this sweet opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of bees and honey at one of Enfield’s most charming and educational autumn events!”
