Parents and carers are being invited to take part in a series of ‘buggy walks’ in Edmonton this summer.

The local branch of mental health charity Mind is teaming up with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to bring its popular event to Pymmes Park next month.

Each buggy walk is intended to provide a “safe space” for parents and carers of babies and toddlers to connect.

Paul Warrick, the head of children and family services at Mind in Enfield and Barnet, said: “Becoming a parent is a wonderful experience, but it can also bring unexpected challenges, including social isolation and anxiety.

“By taking this support out of clinical settings and into our local parks, we want to break down stigmas and give parents and carers of young children a safe, informal space to connect with others, enjoy the fresh air, and access the early mental health support they deserve right in their own community.”

According to Mind, parents may face challenges around social isolation, cultural stigmas, and navigating their health during the early years of starting a family.

The buggy walks will help those families to connect, access early health and mental support, and combat loneliness.

They will be held between 10am and 11am on all four Tuesdays in August.

Paul added: “We are incredibly excited to partner with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to bring these buggy walks to Enfield.”
